Wilton Garden Club Annual President's Awards

 

At our Awards Luncheon in June at the Redding Country Club , we honored members who contributed much to the Club this past year.

 

Palmer Cup is given to a member of the Executive Board for outstanding service. This cup was donated by Eleanor Palmer, a Past President and Club Advisor.

  2011 recipient:  Gladys Blundin

Turner Tray is given to a new member for outstanding service. This tray was donated by Tommie Turner and has been named in her honor for years of outstanding service to the Club.

  2011 recipient:  Maureen Granito

Plant Sale Award is given to a plant sale committee member for outstanding service to the club's annual fund-raiser, the Mother's Day Plant Sale.

   2011 recipient:   JoAnn Overton

Jean Wild Award is given to a member who has achieved distinction in floral design.  It is given in memory of Jean Wild, who was an award-winning floral designer and consummate educator within the Club.

   2011 recipient:   Melinda Wolcott

Bigelow Memorial Horticulture Award is given for an outstanding contribution in horticulture or the greenhouse. This tray was donated in honor of Yo Bigelow who had a keen interest in horticulture and was a past Club President.

  2011 recipients:  Carol Kaelin and Donna Harakas 

Bobbie Shavel Award of Excellence is given to a club member for outstanding service. This bowl was given in memory of Bobbie Shavel, a beloved member who was an orchid expert, horticulturist and educator.

  2011 recipient:   Linda Schmidt

President's Award is given at the discretion of the President to the member whose outstanding service has made a difference.

  2011 recipients:  Milena Cortes and Jannice Williams

Wheeler Conservation Award, a pewter bowl donated by Marybeth Wheeler, is given to a member who has exemplified dedication to conservation and education.

  2011 recipient:  Jade Hobson

 

2011 Gifts of Appreciation were given to those who made contributions throughout the year, both visibly and behind the scenes:  Patty Angione, Carolyn Bird, Ann Collis, Anne Cuddy, Jerre Dawson, Sharon Frost, Dot Greenlee, Anne Hamar, Lila Griswold, Michael Hilliard, Liz Keister, Suzanne Knutson, Ann McDonald, Liz Riley, Linda Schmidt, Ann Schmitt, and Kim Young. 

 

2011 Plant Sale Recognition:  Carolyn Bird, Gladys Blundin, Jerre Dawson, Tina Duncan, Donna Harakas, Billie Sue Hollingsworth, Carol Kaelin, Liz Keister and JoAnn Overton.

 

 

2007 Wilton Garden Club FLOWER SHOW AWARDS

Vera Breed Trophy is given to the member awarded the most points in the Horticulture Division. Vera Breed, for whom this cup is named, taught horticultural techniques for many years to new members of the Club.

  2007 recipient:  Suzanne Knutson

Betty Clark Bowl is given to the member awarded the most points in the Design Division. Betty Clark is remembered for her devotion to flower arranging which she taught for many years.

  2007 recipient:  Jannice Williams

President's Cup, a gift of Virginia deParamo, a Past President, is given to the member awarded the most blue ribbons in the Flower Show.

  2007 recipient:  Pat Hegnauer

Loosley Cup is given to a first time Blue Ribbon winner in a class where staging is identical for every exhibit. Formerly the Novice Cup, this award is given in memory of Elwynne Loosley who devoted a significant portion of her time and efforts to the Club.
